High Quality Flute Grinding

The 3M™ Diamond Wheel 650HJ line is specifically designed for the production of tungsten carbide cutting tools. The wheel is used to generate the flute which is the helical or straight groove in the body of the tool. This process requires the highest level of quality that the 3M™ Diamond Wheel 650HJ provides.

The 3M™ Diamond Wheel 650HJ line uses a hybrid bond system which offers increased thermal stability compared to the phenolic or polyimide bond systems. This allows 650HJ to grind at higher cut rates and maintain form under higher temperature grinding conditions where phenolic and polyimide bond systems undergo thermal and chemical deterioration.

The Right Wheel for Every Job

3M provides a broad portfolio of superabrasive wheels used for your round tool relief and clearance angle applications. From short runs and re-sharpening to "lights-out" and long production runs, 3M has the wheel design to meet your needs.

  • Hybrid bond withstands higher temperature operations than a polyimide bond
  • Delivers a high level of cut-rate among 3M™ Fluting Wheels
  • High form retention requires less frequent dressing, increasing productivity
  • Requires a minimum of “white sticking”
  • Recommended for wet applications
  • Ideal for long, uninterrupted runs
  • Available in shapes 1V1,‎ 1A1 with custom arbor hole
  • Excellent for use on PCD,‎ non-ferrous metals,‎ carbide,‎ cermets and ceramic
